Subj: Shopping at Flying Pig,

I spent around $100 on books at Flying Pig the other day.

The actual experience of using the site is horrible.

My main gripe is that having spent 30mins or so searching
for the books I wanted, and adding them to my shopping
basket, I had to sign on as a new user.  Once this is
completed what do I find ?..My shopping basket is empty!

Can you imagine if this process was replicated in a real
bookstore?

I'm a customer. I don't care if there are technical reasons
for not keeping my selections, its not my concern.

I just want to select my books, and pay for them as easily
as I possibly can.

I choose to spend my money at Flying Pig because its local,
I don't need to convert from US to NZ dollars, and the
delivery time should be quicker; but having actually used
the site, I can see why its not doing all that well.

I don't know if I'll use Flying Pig again - it depends how
quickly my books arrive.

Thanks for your opinion. I can tell you that it is not
shared by those who visit www.advantagegroup.co.nz.  In
fact the feedback we receive from visitors is that our site
delivers the information they require – case studies,
recent wins, acquisitions, reports and graduate programme
information

Our view is that any website has to meet the needs of the
organisation it serves: in Advantage’s case our site is
just one of many channels we used to communicate with our
various stakeholders. We target our site primarily at
investors (both here and overseas), potential international
partners and job seekers.   If a visitor wants more
information on our commercial capabilities, we provide
contacts with links on both the home and contact pages.

Operationally Advantage is an e-Services company. We don’t
just develop websites: we provide complete e-commerce
solutions to some of New Zealand and Australia’s largest
companies. Typically these companies know who we are and do
not select their e-commerce partner over the web. Instead
we develop close working relationships with them at a
strategic level.

That may assist you to understand why we feel that our
site’s content and structure is appropriate to our market
and stakeholder interests and why the comments we receive
are generally positive. That said, we thank you for your
interest in Advantage: we appreciate your feedback, and
will give it appropriate consideration.
