Mr Anderton says everyone with business experience in
modern economy knows that new technology is important.

"But you don't have to have electronic engineers or IT
specialists on a board which is to give direction. That's a
misnomer.

"If we want IT advice or information from the information
technology industry, we could get it, and we will. But we
don't have to have it represented any more than we have to
have wide ranges of other areas," he says.

What a load of crap from a Minister, God help us all.  This
is the type of barrier all IT Managers have to break
through, day in and out.  The continual stereotyping of IT
professionals as info-geeks unable to put two cents
together to make a business run and make profit.  IT
Managers like me strive hard to change these type of
Corporate attitude and Jim (he's dead, Captain) Anderton
has just reinforced it nationally.  When are these old-
deadbeats going to give us, the new generation a chance to
prove ourselves?  Jim has just wrecked my day.
