Subj: cyberthreat and .army.mil domain

Bruce: (this is my personal opinion, not any official
statement of government representatives, ok?!)

You've got to realize the *reality of the threat* as
demonstrated during the Azerbaijan debacle and
other "ethnic wars" of the region. These demonstrated in
the most public fashions the severity of cyberwarfare.

This is my second major revision to this email. After
writing about my experiences, functions of the military, or
the fact that in the US, the top three leaders in the chain
of command are, in fact, civilians... well, sufice it to
say that ANY threat is to be considered and given it's
relative weight as a threat to be managed. Fact: The US
has been the target of cyberattacks (do you watch CNN?).

It would be only prudent to take active defensive measures.

As with any corporate entity that uses and relies upon the
internet for its survival (especially in the new economies
of the future!), active defense is the only way to
survive. Check your virus protection and firewalls. Don't
they block sites such as www.Digi-Crime.com? Isn't that an
active defense?

As usual, you've made me glad that I check your column
first thing when I get to work... Thought provoking and
spanning the globe in its implications. Keep up the good
work.
