Subj: Phone installation costs

Has it not occured to anyone now that the costs of
installing a phone, it will provide an incentive for other
providors to extend there networks to the rural areas?

Now, would you rather get a second crummy analog line from
telecom, or something like a citylink connection?

Subj: Telecom

Here we go again, watch out if Telecom doesn't get its own way.
For years they have been making huge profits, most of this
money going overseas, sucessive Governments have pandered to
them. Like talk about investing, what about the old NEC
switches, that are used in exchanges throughout the country.
My thoughts are, If telecom doesn't like a bit of
regulation, sell up and piss off. All they are is a money
machine. TelstraClear gets all my Business, Telecom can well
and truly shove it.

Subj: The winner is!

TELECOM.

One Monopoly that won’t be lost by Telecom anytime soon, is
the decade long outright winner of “The most despised NZ
company award”

Theresa and her overpaid Generals will be working overtime
to put more pressure on the Government, but they will have
to do better than the rural fiasco.

I have been in business for many years and could write a
book on the bandit like attitude of Telecom.

When Saturn arrived, moving every thing over was a pleasure.

Sympathy for Theresa ?-- I don’t think so.

Subj: Telecom, Gattung

The government has been _afraid_ to take on Telecom up until
now.

One government minister put it very succinctly to me a few
years back:

"Telecom shares account for around 60% of _ALL_ shares traded
on the NZSE. Should the NZ government take any action against
them wihch would cause their share value to fall significantly,
the NZSE 40 would dip sharply and deeply. The knock on effects
of this would be disasterous for the country. As a result,
while we are fully aware that Telecom is extremely abusive, we
cannot take any action against them because to do so would
 probably trigger a major recession."

I will leave it up to Aardvark readers to work out which
minister it is, but suffice to say he was once one of the
loudest advocates of dealing with Telecom abusiveness until
his government was elected, then went very silent.

Subj: Satisfying people.

Theresa's problem is the system she is in. She is only
operating to traditional business principles (she doesn't
have to; this is just a script of the culture of commerce)
and the shareholder system, which in my opinion a problem
for her.

I think Telecom should be returned back into private, New
Zealand hands. This way only Kiwis need to be satisfied and
we are not as lifestyle greedy as the people overseas.
Theresa's job will be much easier since she only needs to
answer to one or two people - and they think like her and
live in the same country.
