Subj: Doppelganger sites

"Okay, so you're probably thinking that it's very unlikely
any of the sites you link to would suddenly replace an
innocent page with porno right?

You're probably right."

No - you're wrong. There are low-lifes who notice when the
registration of existing domains lapse, reregister the
domain, and slap a porn site there. (This has been news
before - it happened to a small NZ city's site.)

I've seen this myself - a family friendly comic strip had
three websites. One was run by the syndicate. The other two
appeared to be run by the cartoonist, or people associated
with her, and had links between them. The secondary of those
sites one day was suddenly a voyeuristic webcam site.

Subj: laws - written by lawyers without reguard to reality

The DIA is an example of the Nazi like tactics of our
technoignorant governments and the "laws written for
lawyers, not people" syndrone.

In the US, the Americans with Disabilities Act allows
lawyers to sue without warning if you violate the law in
anyway, not even offering you a warning or chance to
correct. A new program recently did a special on lawyers
that make their living sueing people without representing
any agreived party. They had one example of a lawyer sueing
a company run by disabled that provide disability services
and products!

Subj: 1950's leadership!

It amazes me that the NZ Government wants to make the Net
reflect the mindset and attitudes of the past.

One very reason the Net took off is ability to get
uncensored information. If the NZ Government is very
serious about it's position as you have (on the their
behalf) described, I feel ^&%^&%&^%(I can't describe it).

Has it occured to the Government that the Net represents an
experiment in second by second Government. The Government's
mode of operation of today is incompatible with the Net's
mode of operation.

The NZ Government risks every placing every NZ'er that has
an interest in online publishing into legal hot water.

Minister, amend these acts please! They don't work in a
global environment. If you dislike the control the Net has
over your profession, say so.
