Once again big business buys legislation.

Money talks, and the "entertainment" (I use the term
loosely) industries in the form of music and movies, have
lots of money and talk VERY loud. They must do to have
muddle-headed legislation passed that flies totally in the
face of user rights and even common sense.

Witness: I am not allowed to copy a CD to MP3 or cassette
to listen to in my car. When I fly in from LA are they
going to check my bag at the airport for legally bought
copies of the Harry Potter movie? Oops sorry, forgot- the
movie industry deems me not able to watch my movie at home
cos I'm in the wrong 'zone'.

There ya go, RIAA, MPAA et al, think local, act local.

Aardvark Comments:
I believe the private importation of gray-market DVDs will still be
allowed, only the commercial importation and resale is affected.
However, this certainly shows that, once again, the PM's own personal
affection for "The Arts" appears to give this community, and its
associated commercial interests, a huge advantage over other groups
when it comes to gaining political favours.

Subj: A conduct that stirs hatred

I don't wish to be insensitive, but the sort of behaviour
that you have described is precisely what drives extremist
groups (note I haven't referred to anybody or any religion)
to get VERY strong feelings about lines of control and who
has the right to do what. And who should be corrected.
