Can RF fog kill?

9 August 2012

When mankind first began to walk upright, the earth was a pretty dangerous place.

If it wasn't the risk of infection in the slightest of cuts, it might have been a sabre-toothed tiger and other predators, or even a fight to the death with a competitor for your food or mate.

Being mainly hunter-gathers, early man was also very much a the mercy of droughts, floods and other natural disasters that could wipe out his prey species and foraged foods.

But now it's the 21st century and things are different.

Our control over our environment and food-supply is now greatly enhanced.

Irrigated agriculture and a global supply system ensures that famines are no longer a threat to first-world countries.

High technology, such as satellite systems and weather-predicting computers usually give us plenty of warning of impending storms or floods.

However, as citizens of the 21st century, we do face some new and often (initially) unseen threats to our wellbeing with some of these dangers being very much of our own making.

Take RF energy for instance...

Every day, billions of people all over the world clasp a reasonably powerful source of radio-frequency transmissions to their heads -- just millimeters from the delicate tissues of their brain.

Despite numerous studies, the effect of cellphone transmissions on human brain tissue remains a matter of much debate.

Does regular exposure to this form of radiation cause long-term damage?

We really don't seem to know for sure -- some studies indicate that it may, other studies seem to indicate it doesn't.

Then there is the ever-increasing level of RF and EM "fog" that exists around us.

Whenever we go indoors we are effectively stepping into a mesh of wiring that radiates a constant 50Hz EM field. Sleep on an electric blanket or with a clock-radio on the bedside table beside you and the strength of that EM field grows significantly.

Casual exposure may be inconsequential - but what about 50 years or more of being constantly bathed in this 50Hz EM flux?

And what about all the other RF transmissions that pass through or are absorbed by your bodies each day?

There is a hell of a lot of 2.4GHz RF out there -- emanating from wireless routers, cordless phones, cordless mice and a raft of other "wireless" devices which we often work in very close proximity to. We're also starting to see this fog appearing on the much higher 5.6/5.8GHz bands as well.

We are warned to keep out of the harmful UV radiation that bathes the surface of the planet on a sunny day. This radiation has been proven to damage the DNA in our cells and produce cancers when the levels of accumulated exposure are high enough.

Could the same be true of the EM/RF fog that we're now surrounded by? What is a "safe" level?

Might it be that the next "wireless" device you add to your collection is the one that brings your exposure into the "danger zone"?

Are you worried for your own health?

What about the health of your kids or grandkids - who some of who will spend their entire lives bathed in this fog of RF radiation?
