Things are heating up in my battel with the SWDC.
The Mayor dropped the ball completely after my meeting with him and simply handed the matter back to staff who merely doubled-down on their previous correspondence.
No surprises.
So I posted a couple of videos and the public response has been stunning and very heartwarming.
It is clear that I was right, many people from all over the country and all over the world have had a total gutsfull of the excesses and abuses being inflicted on them by their local councils.
These people are more than happy to put their money where their mouth is and as the comments on this video clearly show, there are no shortage of people prepared to bankroll legal action in this case.
Having failed to get any half-sensible resolution from the Mayor, I emailed all the councilors to update them on the situation, inviting them to check those comments and to also come out to the airfield on Sunday to discuss the matter "in context".
Not one showed up and only one bothered to contact me over the issue with another merely acknowledging receipt of my email by same.
Anyone who took a moment to read those comments would be very much aware that the reputation of the SWDC is being torn to shreds by their own actions. Surely they have an obligation to act in a way that does not bring their own organisation into disrepute? Unfortunately, as we've seen on a number of previous occasions, these people simply do not care that they're dragging the SWDC through the mud and making it the subject of derision and scorn both across the country and around the world.
Yesterday I posted another video this time calling their bluff and creating a no-win situation for them. In less than 24 hours this video has racked up almost 15,000 views and a huge level of support from within the comments.
I am holding their feet to the flames so the SWDC now has the choice of:
There is no way they can come out of this without looking bad.
I must say that I do feel a little guilty for engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Petty bureaucrats and politicians usually rely on "Joe Public" either deferring blindly to their apparent power or giving up and going away when they're abused in the way I have been. Perhaps one of the reasons that this stoush has gone on for so long and runs so deep within the SWDC is that "I'm not that guy". I refuse to be bullied. I refuse to have a bunch of petty bureaucrats breach my rights under the NZ BOR and statutes of New Zealand. I will not go away, I will not give up and I will not accept their unreasonable and unlawful actions.
No you'd think that even if they had just half a brain they'd realise that there's nothing for them to gain in this fight and an awful lot to be lost. Smart people would work with alacrity to find a resolution that took the spotlight and the heat off their actions.
Well keep watching because I predict (but I hope I'm wrong) that they will now simply double-down yet again and remain resolved to put their own egos ahead of their obligations to the instutution of council and the interests of those they are elected or employed to serve. I'd love to be proven wrong but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I have many videos cued up and ready to post. Every day will bring new shame and embarrassment to this council as I highlight (with irrefutable evidence) their wrongdoings.
Each day that passes will be further proof of their malice, bullying and malfeasance towards me.
Ultimately, if a court of law has to rule on this then that's exactly what will happen. My war chest is very full -- they will pick the pockets of some of NZ's poorest people -- to protect their egos.
At that time I think the Minister for Local Government will have something very serious to say about the situation and perhaps it will be time for a Commissioner to be appointed.
I have created a stage that the world is watching. The script is entirely in the hands of a small group of bureaucrats and local-government politicians.
Grab your popcorn and let's get started!
I should restate, for the record, that all the way through this process I have stated my preference for a quick, quiet, sensible resolution to the matter but that option appears not to be attractive to these people.
Carpe Diem folks!
