While Voyager, Xtra and Clear battle for the mass-market, Actrix,
one of NZ's very first ISPs is busy expanding its service through
the acquisition of Welcom BBS.
This move not only brings extra subscribers on-board, but also adds some extra variety to Actrix's offering by way of the 'Spuds Casino', an interactive online system which includes a "chat" facility. The original founders of Welcom will join Actrix with a view to further enhancing the range of interactive services available from Actrix. Although the popularity of traditional bulletin-boards has waned significantly in the face of cheap and easy Internet access, Welcom claim that they have over 2,000 casual users.
