New Video Conferencing Standards Adopted

Microsoft and Intel have teamed up to take on the video conferencing marketplace.

A free test version is available for download, requiring a Pentium 90 or better for one-way video and a P133 or better for two-way operation with a Mac version planned for next year.

As might be expected from something using the Net as a backbone, the picture is displayed in a small window and at a frame rate of just 5 frames per second.

One must ask however, given the current demands being placed on Internet bandwidth - do we really need yet another data-intensive application to slow things down even further?
