NETregistry, a New Zealand-based
domain-name registration facilitator has announced their intention to
become signatory to a global memorandum of understanding and progress
recommendations made by the Internet Ad Hoc Committee (IAHC).
NETregistry director, Peter Mott says "By becoming a signatory to the initiative, we have a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of the International domain space". Whilst not in agreement with the entire recommendation made by the IAHC, Mott says "It is certainly the best option on the table right now, and we would like to be a part of improving it. Critics of the initiative have some valid points but are unlikely to bring about change by shouting loudly from the sidelines". More information on the initiative and the memorandum can be found on the ITU Website. Related stories:
