Several sources are reporting a potential security hole
in Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 4.0 Web browser.
The problems center on the manner in which information about a user's activities are logged in an activity file which can then be forwarded to another site without the user's knowledge or permission. There is no indication that this "feature" in any way compromises other information on a user's computer or could produce damage or a loss of data. Questions are being asked however as to why such a "big brother" function was incorporated in the latest release of Microsoft's browser without making it optional or at least advising users (in plain English) of its existence. |
