One of the problems with scrambling about each morning, looking for the best news headlines and story ideas is that you tend (out of necessity) to visit the same old websites.

I generally start work on each day's Aardvark at about 5:30am (after spending an hour or so on my book) and some mornings it takes as long as 45 minutes to round up a full quota of interesting headlines and links. Add up to another 45 minutes to write this commentary piece and you can see that this doesn't leave much time for leisurely web-surfing for new hangouts.

In recent weeks however, I have been doing my best to venture outside the normal haunts of BBCNews, CNet, vnunet, etc and in doing so, I've stumbled on some sites that appear to have some interesting content - although not always technology related.

Now have your say

While you're here, why not visit the Aardvark Hall of Shame and perhaps make your own nomination. 7

Today I found "lifehacker" which, at l east on the surface, appears to offer-up some interesting items such as how to "Tackle problems in your sleep"

Unfortunately, there's not much original content on this website though -- most of the intriguing headlines are just a paragraph or so with a link to a related story elsewhere on the web (but hey, isn't that what Aardvark's headline section does?).

Right now, as I draw up my new browsing schedule for the new site, I'd like to know what wonderful websites readers find interesting enough to visit on a regular basis.

Another story that caught my eye this morning was this one about what can happen to those hard drives that get replaced under warranty.

I'd be interested to hear from any Aardvark readers who might have had similar experiences and what companies were involved.

What methods are corporated using to clear their hard-drives before disposing of computers -- and how effective are they?

How a regular non-geek ensure that drives replaced under warranty don't get "refurbished" or are perhaps found later not to be the cause of the problem and thus get recycled?

Is it really worth claiming a failed hard drive under warranty if you risk having the contents of that drive passed on to someone else?

And finally for today, I see that we could be facing a shortage of people with the skills needed to roll out unbundled broadband.

Will Telecom play the smart game and hire all the available talent in this area so that those hoping to compete on the now-level playing field are unable to move?

But maybe Theresa will have too much on her plate right now to worry about such minor details.

Yes, You Can Gift Money
I've published this website for the past nine years as a service to the local internet and IT industry and during all that time it has been 100% free to access. It is my intention to ensure that it remains completely free and free of charge and contains only the most sparse levels of advertising. Aardvark is not a business, it is a free resource.

If you feel that this is a good thing and/or you hold a "geniune affection" for yours truly -- then you are welcome to gift me some money using the buttons provided. In gifting this money you accept that no goods, service or other consideration is offered, provided, accepted or anticipated in return. Just click on the button to gift whatever you can afford. NOTE: PayPal bills in US dollars so don't accidentally gift more than what you were intending :-)
