Xtra found in breach of advertising code

The Advertising Standards Complaints Board has upheld a complaint that Telecom did not supply the "fast, reliable" service it advertised.

The advertising in question asserted that Xtra offered toll-free help desk support from 7am to 11pm but as anyone attempting to reach the help desk would confirm, this was not as "available" as claimed.

Since the period during which the complaint was registered, Telecom claims to have improved the service-support aspects of the Xtra product.

The latest round of aggressive advertising from Xtra emphasizes a greater focus on the content of the Internet rather than the quality of service offered by Xtra themselves.
