Justice delayed is...

22 November 2012

The Crown's prosecutor is apparently making judgments about the lifestyle of Kim Dotcom and his lovely wife Mona.

The couple are seeking $20K a month to cover the cost of nannies, personal assistants and a cook. This has been labeled as "incredibly extravagant" by lawyers acting for Police.

Oh come on, get a grip people!

How on earth the Police can dare to criticise Kim Dotcom's lifestyle choices beggars belief.

Remember that it is the Police, albeit acting on orders from their bosses (the FBI apparently) who have engaged in several unlawful acts against the millionaire and his wife.

Kim Dotcom has a right to spend his money however the hell he chooses.

I find it outrageous that, despite the fact that all we've seen from the prosecution are a series of allegations, Kim's company has been laid waste and his not-insignificant assets and cash seized -- at gunpoint!

This is the type of behaviour you'd expect in some banana republic or perhaps in the corrupt provinces of China -- but in a country that proudly promotes itself as being free of graft and corruption?

Right now, all NZers ought to be worried as hell about this.

Why?

Well aside from the fact that it makes a mockery of our claims to have a "justice system", the actions of our police and the agencies that direct them are exposing every single man, woman and child to a massive law suit that could cost us all a mighty fist-full of money.

Surely it is the job of our government to ensure that this country and its citizens are not exposed to such risks?

And, given that we're rapidly approaching the anniversary of the raid on Dotcom's mansion, isn't it time to admit that justice-delayed is justice-denied?

Let it go guys. You goofed so badly that you've dug yourselves an almighty hole, using incompetence, corruption and stupidity as your tools. Now is the time to stop digging -- no matter how loudly your US overlords are cheering you on from the sidelines.

Even if Kim Dotcom did commit the more serious crimes alleged against him (money laundering???) then you've blown your chance to dispense justice in a fair and reasonable timeframe.

For almost a year, you have put Kim Dotcom and his family through hell. You have metered out punishment that ought be reserved for those who are convicted of a crime -- not those who have merely been accused by a foreign government whose agenda is driven by highly active industry lobbyists.

And now, to make judgments with respect to the lifestyle of someone who was granted NZ residency (when it suited the government to pocket his money) is absolutely appalling.

This whole fiasco is a massive black mark against the nation -- especially at a time when we're fast-tracking the entry of "rich" Chinese tourists whose background and reputation is completely unknown to us.

The government can not feign innocence in all this either.

They knew Kim Dotcom's shady background and were prepared to set aside concerns over this in return for their 13 pieces of silver. Politicians (are you listening John Banks) were prepared to sell themselves to Kim Dotcom for another fist-full of cash.

So who are the real crooks here?

The evidence is very clear and proves that the NZ government as a whole, and some of its members as individuals, engaged in practices that are far more questionable than those which are merely alleged against Kim Dotcom.

Hypocrisy? Duplicity? Corruption?

Yes, it abounds within the halls of power here and the proof is clear to all those who look -- despite the fact that the minions of our politicians (the Police) seem to be conveniently blind to the evidence that everyone else can see before them.

And now they say that Kim Dotcom's extradition hearing is still another six months away, during which time he will still be denied the fruits of his labours and effectively persecuted and slandered by those who have already wronged him so badly.

As I said -- justice delayed is justice denied.

Shame on all those who are so very clearly corrupt and in the pockets of a few Hollywood overlords.

As an interesting footnote, I see that the studios involved in The Hobbit withdrew the press credentials of RadioNZ's reporter because, they claim, she was doing too many "negative" stories about the movie. I wonder if she'll also be locked up by police for having offended Hollywood -- which now seems to be the worst crime you can commit in this once free and just nation.
