Who would believe this?

20 Apr 2023

While I was browsing YouTube yesterday I was hit with another scammy ad promoting something that was obviously a rip-off.

Over the years I've seen many scams promoted by way of YouTube ads and I've even exposed a few of the worst through videos I've made in an attempt to prevent the more gullible people out there from losing their money.

On this site I've also debunked some of the worst scams such as the many "Run your car on water" rip offs that were so popular a few years back.

Today's scammy rip-off is one of the worst energy scams I've seen in a long time.

According to the purveyors of this scam, you can slash or even eliminate your reliance on "big power" -- the electricity companies that rape your wallet every month.

Yes, like all good scams, there has to be a "villain" in the form of some mega-corporate conspiracy to fleece you of your hard-earned cash. With the HHO scam it was "big oil" and in this latest rip-off it's "big power".

I guess the scammers are trying to capitalise on the fact that electricity prices are rising all around the world and, at a time when almost all other costs are also placing a huge burden on people's incomes, the prospect of being able to reduce or completely avoid that monthly power bill will be incredibly attractive.

So how do they do it?

Well if you've got 20 minutes to spare you can go to this page and watch the scammer's video about the "Odd Little Device [that] Kills Energy Bills And Generates Power On Demand".

However, if you want a TLDR on the video, it's some guy prattling on for an eternity about how Nikola Tesla developed this fantastic way to amplify electricity by five or six times and how this lost invention has been turned into a powerful generator you can build yourself for just a few dollars.

Again, just as in the HHO scam, there's not only a villain (big energy) but also a hero (Tesla) who was effectively silenced by the power companies that feared for their profits in the face of his fantastic invention. Stanley Meyer was the "hero" for the HHO scammers, Tesla is the hero this time.

This stuff is so formulaic yet obviously it works. Such a sad indictment on the gullibility of certain groups within our population.

Ultimately, the video gets around to telling you that you can buy the plans for this remarkable "off-grid" energy generator for just a fraction of their true value. Not $1,000, not $500, not even $100!

Yes, the scientists and engineers that turned Tesla's invention into a real DIY reality are only seeking to recover the cost of their R&D efforts so you can buy these plans for a paltry $69.

But wait... there's more...

For today only there's a special deal. You can get this $69 download for the once in a lifetime price of just $49 -- but act now, the website offering you access to this revolutionary information may not stay up for much longer ("big energy" is already working hard to have it removed so as to protect their profits).

During the video they also show you a very brief snippit of what is supposed to be the generator in action. Hahahaha... what a joke!

The "generator" appears to be two stepper motors linked by a shaft and a big stack of 18650 batteries. The footage shows a smartphone being plugged in and charging with the power "generated" by these batteries and motor/generator combination.

Groan!

However, I'm absolutely certain that the money is pouring into these scammers pockets and stupid people are discovering they've been ripped off -- despite the "claimed" money-back guarantee.

I strongly suspect that what people will be getting for their money are a bunch of plans for stuff like Tesla coils (which are basically just a transformer) which can boost the voltage of an AC power source but will not actually increase the power in any way, shape or form.

Here's something to ponder... remember all those HHO proponents who were just dying to sell you the plans for a device that would let you massively reduce your reliance on petrol. Recall how they told you that "big oil" was trying to suppress this technology to protect their profits?

Well where are all those HHO-powered cars today? And if "big oil" was so actively working to suppress technologies that would impact their bottom lines, why didn't they stop the transition to EVs that is now in full-swing?

Yeah, these snake-oil merchants will lie through their teeth and Google, by way of its advertising network, will be there to help and support them for as long as they keep paying for those advertisements. Google/Alphabet has no social conscience and is not a good corporate citizen. They are actively aiding these crooks in defrauding good honest (albeit dim) people.

Be ashamed Google.. be very ashamed!

Carpe Diem folks!
