Exercising your rights, how to

21 Dec 2022

I wrote about this back on the 7th of this month and now I have a video showing you what happened

Here I am explaining why exercising your rights is so important and demonstrating how this can be done in a sensible, disciplined, non-disruptive way, despite the best efforts of politicians (our Mayor) and bureacrats (the SWDC's CEO) to stop me.

I strongly urge readers to watch that video on YouTube rather than through the embedded player and take a good long look at the comments that have been left by people from around NZ and around the world.

Just as with the previous video I did showing the SWDC attempting to shut me down when I wanted to record their meetings, this one has clearly touched a nerve within the wider community.

A surprising number of people from around the country and around the world have waded in with their support for what I've done and their criticism of councils and governments across the globe.

It seems that people are waking up to the fact that government (both local and central) is no longer working FOR them in the way that was promised. Instead, voters and taxpayers are increasingly seen as a group to be controlled, restricted, restrained and regulated as much as is possible.

These politicians and the bureaucrats in their service have forgotten that they are employed TO SERVE THE PUBLIC, not to act as masters and lords. The decisions they make must always be based on what is best for the people they serve, not what is best for themselves.

I can only hope that my video, at least in some small way, serves to show people that they should not submit to the tyranny of bullies who threaten them with false claims as to their own power. Do your homework, check what your freedoms and rights really are then exercise them so as to strengthen them.

Sadly, we have been drifting towards blind obedience and servitude when instead, we should be asserting our rights and power as citizens, voters and taxpayers.

Politicians only get away with this crap because we let them. It is time for a change. Time to remind these people just who their employers are and whose interests must always be foremost in their minds.

Hopefully the coming econmic recession/depression will galvanise people in a way that reminds them to demand better of their politicians; reminds them who is really in control.

I do not wish to champion sedition... simply to remind *everyone*, politician and citizen alike, how a democracy is supposed to work.

Now a question for readers?

What are our chances? Do you think that hard times and a gentle nudge by people like me will wake the people from their sleep and restore true democracy to this nation and others?

If not, what will the future hold?

Carpe Diem folks!
